Electricity Suppliers

Of the more than 12 million people who have so far switched their energy supplier, 93% of electricity and 90% of gas customers found the process easy, according to independent research released by Ofgem.

The research, undertaken on Ofgem’s behalf by MORI, shows that customers were generally satisfied with the process of switching, particularly with the time taken, the accuracy of information supplied and the timeliness of bills.

According to a recent National Audit Office report, domestic electricity customers have seen their electricity bills fall by a total of £750m a year since competition began. Gas bills have similarly fallen by a £1bn a year.

Switching continues at a rate of 139,000 a week for electricity and 57,000 a week for gas. Electricity customers can save as much as 21% on their bills and gas customers a similar 20%.

Most electricity suppliers can also offer you gas or telephone services. You can make sure that you select the utility plan that gives you the best value by using various gas and electricity price comparison services.

No Standing Charge may suit you if you use very low amounts of electricity or gas.

Or if you are concerned about the environment, the GreenPlan electricity scheme is a positive choice you can make to help improve our environment.
